Wash your produce thoroughly before preparing your meal by following these seven steps: 1. Start by washing your hands for 20 seconds with warm water and soap. 2. Cut away bruised or damaged areas on your produce. 3. Rinse all produce, even if it has an inedible peel. 4. Use a clean vegetable brush to scrub firm produce like melons and oranges. 5. Gently rub produce while holding it under plain, running water. You can skip the soap and special produce washes. 6. Dry produce with a clean cloth or paper towel. 7. Remove the outermost leaves on a head of lettuce or cabbage.
