After listening to community feedback, we chose to start each meeting with a short (30 minutes or less) educational piece on topics identified by the groups, often with a guest speaker. The meetings also include roundtable discussions on concerns, struggles, successes, resource sharing, or simple tips and tricks for dealing with cancer. The meetings are open to people who have recently received a cancer diagnosis, those who are actively in treatment or in remission, and those who love them. The meetings provide a safe, comfortable atmosphere where individuals and their support people can freely talk about their life-changing diagnoses.
